MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) — Division and confrontation hinder the pace of international cooperation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong said at a roundtable to discuss “A unique path to success for all: the Chinese Global Civilization Initiative” in Minsk on 27 April, BelTA has learned.
The diplomat emphasized the importance of the event for the purpose of an in-depth exchange of views with experts and scientists.
“Today, all countries are facing common challenges in the search for peace, in the pursuit of development and in exploring ways to modernize. Calls for unity, cooperation, and dialogue are louder than ever,” the ambassador said. “But long-standing ills such as suspicion, division and confrontation continue to hinder the pace of international cooperation. That is why fostering exchanges among civilizations and promoting stronger ties among peoples are of paramount importance,” he added.
In his words, at the high-level dialogue between the Communist Party of China and other political parties around the world on 15 March, General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Xi Jinping gave a keynote speech entitled “Going hand in hand with modernization”, and launched the Global Civilization Initiative. The Chinese leader made a heartfelt appeal to the world to deepen the promotion of exchange and dialogue among civilizations and to promote progress in the spirit of inclusiveness and mutual learning.
Xie Xiaoyong stressed that the Global Civilization Initiative is a scientific system that promotes exchange and development among all countries of the world. “The focus of the Global Civilization Initiative is on four proposals: to advocate respect for the diversity of world civilizations, to promote the common values of all mankind, to advocate continuity and innovation, and to strengthen international humanitarian exchange and cooperation,” the ambassador said. “Humanitarian exchange is always an important bridge for mutual understanding between different countries and nations, as well as close communication between people.”
