State, business, public institutions urged to jointly protect Belarus’ digital sovereignty
Aleksandr Volfovich
MINSK, 18 April (BelTA) – It is very important now to develop a national cybersecurity system, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich said at the opening ceremony of the 29th edition of the international information and communications technology forum TIBO 2023, BelTA has learned.
“Digitalization is essential to a country’s economic growth and its competitive ability on the international market. Top-notch technology is coming to play an increasingly important role, especially in construction, education, healthcare, and national security. The ongoing exhibition highlights solutions that improve access to smart city technologies. However, the modern digital sector is now under pressure caused by the growing confrontation and rivalry between the world’s leading powers. This poses a number of challenges for the public sector and private companies. We see persistent attempts of individual states to use the internet to cause damage to the Belarusian society and information infrastructure of our country. Cybercriminals make use of the latest in digital technologies to do this,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.
In this regard, the development of a national cybersecurity system is more relevant than ever. “We need to accumulate the existing achievements and scientific potential with a view to protecting the digital sovereignty of Belarus,” the state secretary of the Security Council stressed.
Aleksandr Volfovich believes that this can be achieved only through the efficient joint work of the state, business and public institutions at the national and international levels.
The 29th edition of the international information and communications technology forum TIBO 2023 will be running through 21 April.
