PM: Direct contacts with Russian regions are the basis for stable economic ties
MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) — Direct contacts with Russian regions are the basis for the sustainability of trade and economic relations between the two countries, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Governor of Russia’s Novosibirsk Oblast Andrei Travnikov on 27 April, BelTA has learned.
Roman Golovchenko stressed that the meeting was taking place amid the increasing external pressure on Belarus and Russia from the collective West. “Under these conditions, we need to demonstrate integrity and readiness to defend our economic interests and core values. We have achieved some success here. Our economies have not collapsed, as our enemies tried to do. Moreover, our economies have embarked on a dynamic and accelerated path of development. The credit for this goes largely to the leaders of our countries, as well as to all the specialists, experts, heads of enterprises, organizations and institutions who work for our common good,” he said.
According to the prime minister, Belarus effectively cooperates with the Russian Federation both at the federal and regional levels. “It is the direct ties with the regions of Russia that are the basis for our stable and sustainable trade and economic ties. Novosibirsk Oblast is the most important partner for Belarus. Last year was very productive. Mutual trade rose by 42% to nearly $500 million. These are good results,” Roman Golovchenko concluded.
The Belarusian head of government also visited the Novosibirsk Semiconductor Devices Plant Vostok and the Belarusian goods fair.
