Persian leopard spotted on camera in SW Iran

SHAHRE-KORD, 26 April (BelTA — IRNA). — A Persian leopard has been spotted for the first time at the Sabzkouh protected area in the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province in southwestern Iran, according to thee provincial head of Iran’s Environment Protection Organization.
Saeed Yousefpour said on Monday that the presence of Persian leopard in Sabzkouh had been spotted by non-professional photographers before, adding that first images of a camera trap planted in the protected area confirmed the presence of leopard in region.
Yousefpour said the Persian leopard is one of the world’s endangered species, adding that protecting the species would bey key to efforts to protect the entire habitat the animal lives in.
