No problems with meat production technologies in Belarus due to Western sanctions

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – Belarus has not felt problems with the technological aspect of meat production. Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Vadim Shagoiko mentioned it during the 7th international forum Meaty Belarus, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about the influence of sanctions on Belarus’ processing industry, Vadim Shagoiko noted that the country had not felt any problems that may have seriously affected the production technology.

The official said: “Certainly, there are certain problems with the logistics of individual components and parts but these issues are being addressed and no critical situations happen.”

Vadim Shagoiko also added that zones supplying raw materials with regard to pork and cattle are now growing larger in Belarus.

He said: “New pig farms are being commissioned in the country. The task of increasing cattle productivity has been set. This is how we are getting more raw materials. I’d like to note that on the whole, we satisfy the processing industry’s demand for raw materials. The products we lack are now being purchased from the Russian Federation. It is a normal practice, which we have to embrace until we increase the raw materials zone as much as we need.”

The 7th international forum Meaty Belarus is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 27-28 April. During the forum heads and senior specialists of meat-packing plants and poultry plants are expected to discuss the main market trends and the relevant tasks and opportunities with leading experts and executives of the meat industry. The current situation on meat markets and strategies of the future, export of meat products, packaging solutions, and know-how in meat marketing are high on the agenda of the international forum.
