Vadim Senyuta

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) — Minsk and Beijing strongly oppose any manifestations of hegemonic and brute force policies, including illegitimate unilateral sanctions, Deputy Head of the Asia, Australia and Oceania Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vadim Senyuta said at the roundtable to discuss “A unique path to success for all: China’s Global Civilization Initiative” on 27 April, BelTA has learned.

“In the current geopolitical conditions Minsk and Beijing strongly condemn any manifestations of hegemony and the policy of brute force, including illegitimate unilateral sanctions and coercive measures; they are ready to make joint efforts to build a new type of international relations, to deepen and expand an equal and open global partnership based on cooperation, to build together a community of common destiny for mankind,” Vadim Senyuta said.

“As noted in the joint statement of the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China on the further development of relations of all-weather and all-round strategic partnership between the two countries in the new era of 1 March 2023, adopted during the Belarusian president’s state visit to China, Belarus and China support common values of peace, development, equality, justice, democracy and freedom,” he continued. “Belarus welcomes the Global Development Initiative launched by China President Xi Jinping in September 2021. Belarus immediately joined the mechanisms established by China to promote its initiative, and is ready to cooperate to implement projects in Belarus within the framework of the initiative.”

The initiative aims to promote development processes in developing countries through technical assistance projects.

“In order to implement it, China has set up the Group of Friends in Support of the Initiative, which consists of about 60 UN member states. Belarus was among the first states to join this Group and actively participates in its work. China has also set up a network of national coordinators to coordinate actions and exchange information on the implementation of the initiative,” the representative of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

According to Vadim Senyuta, development is an important driving force for the prosperity of all countries.

“Minsk and Beijing aim at strengthening cooperation in key areas within the framework of the global development initiative to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals,” he said. “During the state visit of President Aleksandr Lukashenko to China on 1 March, the parties signed a memorandum on strengthening cooperation in the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, according to which the parties will use grant aid, interest-free and soft loans, the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund to develop and implement projects in industrialization, digital economy, green development, food security and healthcare.”
