Kochanova: CIS should stand together against modern environmental challenges
MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) — The CIS countries should stand together to meet modern challenges in the environmental sector, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said at the 55th plenary session of the CIS IPA in St. Petersburg on 14 April, BelTA has learned.
According to Natalya Kochanova, the CIS IPA events are distinguished by openness, goodwill, sincere interest in the overall result and high efficiency. The mission of the CIS IPA is to further the development of the CIS member states. “Another proof of this is the choice of a difficult, comprehensive subject of the block of issues under consideration. After all, the improvement of the legal framework in the field of ecology and nature management in one way or another affects all aspects of life without exception,” the speaker said.

“It is obvious that due to the complex nature of today’s challenges in ecology and nature management, the efforts of specialized structures alone are not enough to build up a positive environmental image of the CIS. Inter-agency solidarity and coordination of activities of each structure in accordance with its competence is necessary,” the chairperson of the Council of the Republic emphasized. “The natural uniqueness inherent in the territories of our countries obliges us to act in the long term. The goal of building an interstate environmental association can become part of the modern political and ideological platform of the CIS.”
