Iran 21st in global ranking of countries with most active vehicles

TEHRAN, 27 April (BelTA — IRNA). — Iran has beeen ranked 21st in the world in terms of the number of active vehicles and 48th in terms of active vehicles per capita, according to a new report.
According to the latest figures released by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA), the number of active vehicles in Iran between 2015 and 2020 has increased by 2%.
It said there are some 16 million vehicles in Iran, which means 183 vehicles per thousand people. The figure is higher than the average –143 cars per thousand – in Asia and Oceania.
The report also said that there are 1.59 billion vehicles in the world, with China having the largest fleet with 318 million.
Meanwhile, an earlier report by the OICA ranked Iran sixth in the world in terms of car manufacturing growth in 2022.
According to the report, car manufacturing in Iran increased by 19% in 2022, when 1.064 million vehicles were manufactured in the country.
